HEART OF JESUS

Heart of Jesus,

Burning for the love of mankind,
You came down to earth
and gave Your life on the cross
to ransom us from sin.

Please light my heart aflame for You.
Enkindle in me the fire of faith,
the virtue of charity, the will to follow
in Your footsteps, to hear Your gospel words,
to sacrifice my comforts for the wretched
and the poor, who are close to Your heart.

Please, Jesus, light torches of clarity
and wisdom to guide me along the path
up to Calvary, to Your Cross, and finally
to Your heavenly kingdom.

Please show me how to love You.
Please show me how to follow You.
Please show me how to do Your will.
Please let me be Your ambassador
in the world, acting with charity,
with patience, with wisdom, with forbearance and with love.

Let me be a new Simon of Cyrene,
bearing Your cross with You.

Please make me a Christ-bearer
carrying Your message by example, by charity, by chastity, by kindness and purity
and shining faith, never proud, never showy, but always devout.

All this I pray in Your Holy Name,
