Prayers: Holding On

HONEST TO GOD

Dear God,

give me the spiritual courage to be honest
in all things: honest with my fellow mortals,
honest with myself, and honest to You, God.

Let me not be a deceiver nor a self-deceiver.

Lead me to take time out for contemplation
and for honest assessments of my moral life,
and the state of my immortal soul.

Let me avoid lying, remembering always that You are the Way and the Truth, and that if I do not respect the truth, I am not respecting You.

All this I pray in hoping trust,

Amen
