Dear Jesus of Nazareth,

The San Francisco earthquake of 1906
left the homes of some untouched,
but destroyed the homes of thousands
of others, who were, mercifully,
provided with standardized if plain housing.

But still this very night, in San Francisco,
and all across America, one of the world's wealthiest nations, many, many people
will go to sleep on the streets, ragged, homeless, hopeless and hungry.

Please bless people of all economic levels
at all times, all over the world, Lord.

Let those who have, learn to share
with those who have not.

Let every person have his or her dignity.

All this I pray to You, Lord of Justice,
