THE CARDINAL VIRTUES: FAITH, HOPE AND CHARITY
AND THE GREATEST OF THESE IS CHARITY
|
AN
ACT OF FAITH
Oh,
my God,
I firmly believe
all the sacred truths
which the Holy Catholic Church
believes and teaches, because Thou,
Who can neither deceive nor be deceived, have revealed
them.
|
|
AN
ACT OF HOPE
Oh,
my God, relying
on Thy infinite goodness and promises I
hope to obtain pardon of my sins,
the help of Thy grace,
and life everlasting. |
|
AN
ACT OF CHARITY
Oh,
my God
I love Thee above all things
because Thou art all good
and deserving of all my love.
I love my neighbor as myself
for the love of Thee.
I forgive all who have injured me
and I ask pardon
for all whom I have injured.
|
|
AN
ACT OF CONTRITION
O
my God, I am heartily sorry
for having offended Thee.
I detest all my sins
because I dread the loss of heaven
and the pains of hell
but most of all
because they offend Thee,
my God, Who are all good
and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve,
with the help of Thy grace,
to confess my sins, to do penance,
and to amend my life.
Amen
