Lord
God of Creation,
You brought forth the waters upon the land!
You gave us water
to quench our thirst in the heat of day,
to wash and purify our world,
to clean our clothes,
to launch our shipe,
to grow our crops,
to put out fires,
to sustain life.
May the
water of my salvation, which made me a member
of Your Church, continue to put out the fires
of temptation which may flare up
in my mind and soul.
May I
always, Jesus, thirst for You,
and let my soul be miraculously filled
and refilled, and refilled again,
like the jars of the wedding at Cana,
with the graces conferred on me by the water of
my Baptism.
Carry me, God Almighty, across the waters
of the Jordan, where You were baptized
by Your cousin John.
Cleansed from Original Sin by the saving waters,
and
marked
by that sacrament for salvation, bring me please,
dear Jesus,
in my final hour, to the gates
of Your kingdom, arrayed in the shining robes
of purity, so that I may enter into glory
with You, and John, and Your saints,
for
all eternity.
All
this I pray in Your Holy Name,
Amen
