CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN

Dear God,

You well know, Lord, that during the insanity of WWII, the von Trapp family singers fled Hitler's Nazi Austria. Their story
was musicalized by Americans
Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein II.

I quote their paean to endurance
as a challenge to myself in my spiritual
journey toward You.

Climb every mountain,
Search high and low,
Follow every byway,
Every path you know.

Climb every mountain,
Ford every stream,
Follow every rainbow,
'Til you find your dream.

A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live.

Over the last mountain at the end of the road
through the rainbow, and with the last breath of life, m
ay I meet You, my God,
enthroned in radiance and enshrined in stars.

You are my Life, You are my Journey,
You are my Goal.

Give me endurance, Lord,
to scale the peaks of challenge
whatever they may be, and to ford the streams of temptation, however dangerous
the whirlpools and however powerful
the sinful currents rushing around me!

Please give me never-failing faith,
fervent burning hope, and great generous love, for my life-long quest to find You,
my Dream and my Reality, my Hope,
my Goal and my Creator God.
All this I pray fervently in Your Holy Name,

Amen
