WRITING AND BOOKS

Holy Spirit, Source of All Wisdom,
thank You for writing, and for books.

Thank you for ancient alphabets, parchment, and scrolls, for cuneiform and stone tablets,
and for the great libraries of the world.

Thank you for recorded books for the blind, and for those who create them.

Thank you for writers, and for our great
and small libraries and their librarians.

Please, Holy Spirit, send inspiration
to writers who have fine minds and moral messages.

Deter those whose writing is evil and immoral, and which stirs the flames of hatred
in the tinderbox of our world of conflicting philosophies.

Thank you for my eyesight and my mind which enable me to access the thoughts of the wisest and the holiest of all writers, if I but make the effort.

My I never write anything myself
which is hateful, false, derogatory, hurtful or mean-spirited.

Thank you most of all for the Old Testament and the New Testament which have given us guidelines for life in the wisdom
of the Scriptures which You have inspired.

All this I pray to You in fervent hope
that my name will be written in Saint Peter's book of heavenly admissions.

I pray this
to You, Jesus, in certain trust, fervent hope,
and great love,
